英語絵本「Up and Down」の読み聞かせです。
雪と氷に閉ざされた世界に住む小さなペンギンさん達、二匹が一緒に遊ぶには海の中をUp and Downする必要がありました。海の中を旅しながら再び友達に出逢う様子を描いためくりタイプの絵本です。
Little Penguin missed this friend.
リトルペンギンはこの友達に会いたかった。
She lived far away on an iceberg.
彼女は遠くの氷山に住んでいました。
Little Penguin set off to meet her.
リトルペンギンは彼女に会うために出発した。
He jumped high into the air…
彼は高いところから飛び降りた…
and dived low beneath the waves.
そして波の下を低く潜った。
He swam down through the seaweed…
彼は海藻の下を通り抜け泳いだ。。
and up towards a dark tunnel.
そしてくらいトンネルに向かって。
Little Penguin passed outside the tunnel…
リトルペンギンはトンネルの外を通過した。。
and swam inside, bravely.
そして中へと泳いだ、勇敢にも。
He reached the end of the small tunnel…
彼は小さなトンネルの端に達した…
and swam out into the big ocean.
そして大きな海に泳いだ。
He swam in front of the playful dolphins…
彼は遊び心のあるイルカの前で泳いだ…
and behind the solemn sharks (quietly).
そして厳粛なサメの後ろに（静かに）。
He swam above the bobbing jellyfish…
彼はボビングクラゲの上を泳いだ…
and below the tickly octopus.
そしてくすぐったいタコの下。
He swam over the orca whale’s big black tail..
彼はシャチの大きな黒い尾を超えて泳いでいました。
and under its smooth white belly.
そしてその滑らかな白い腹の下に。
Little Penguin’s friend waited and waited.
リトルペンギンの友達は待って待った。
Being lonely made her feel sad, but…
孤独であることで彼女は悲しく感じましたが…
seeing Little Penguin made her feel happy!
リトルペンギンを見たことで幸せに感じました！
Just one last journey to make –

from the bottom of the slope…
斜面の底から…
to the top of the iceberg.
氷山の頂上に。
No longer apart…
もはや別々でない…
they were together at last!
