英語絵本、ピギーとジェラルドのシリーズから「There Is A Bird On Your Head」の読み聞かせです。この作品は2008年Geisel Medalを受賞している作品です。
ゾウのジェラルドの頭の上に鳥が住みついて巣まで作ってしまうというお話し。
イラストを見ているだけでも楽しくなる絵本ですが、会話では英語のごくごく基本的なThere isとかIs there..?や、willの使い方などが耳に馴染んで英語初級のリスニング、リーディングにもぴったりな絵本だと思います。
鳥はやがてカップルになってin loveへと進んでいくのですが、Love birdsを辞書で調べてみると「バカップル」という意味が含まれているんですね。場所をわきまえないってことでしょうか。
