英語絵本「The Very Noisy Bear」の読み聞かせです。ジャングルの中、どこからともなく聞こえてくる音楽。眠りから覚めたクマの耳にも届きます。
苦情を言いに音楽のなる方へ近づくくまさんでしたが、逆に演奏の仲間に引き入れられてしまいました。
In the jingle jangle jungle, there was music in the air…
ジングルジャングルジャングルでは、空中に音楽がありました…
And it landed in the ears of a very sleepy bear.
そして、それは非常に眠いクマの耳に届きました。
“Excuse me!” said the bear to the music making sheep.
“すみません！” 羊が作る音楽に熊が言った。
“Your band is very noisy and it’s time for me to sleep.”
「あなたのバンドはとてもうるさい、そしてそろそろ寝る時間です。」
“Now that you’re awake,” said sheep ,
「今、あなたは起きています」と羊は言った。
“perhaps you’d like to stay?

Have you ever tried the jungle drums?
ジャングルドラムを試したことはありますか？
They’re really fun to play.”

Lyon was on the jungle drums and Bear began to smile.
ライオンはジャングルのドラムに乗っていて、くまは笑い始めました。
“I suppose if i could play the drums, I’d stay a little while.”
「もしドラムを演奏できたら、しばらくはいると思う。」
He sat upon the tiny stood.
彼は小さなスタンドの上に座った。
Boom bang – bash!
ブーム・バン-バッシュ！
Boom went the noisy Bear.
ブーンと騒々しいくま。
Boom Bang.
ブーム、バン！
Crash!
ガシャン！
“It’s harder than it looks,” said Lion,
「見た目よりも難しい」とライオンは言った、
“to play a jungle drum.
「ジャングルドラムを演奏します。
You might prefer an instrument you only have to strum!”
あなたはかき鳴らしさえすればよい楽器を好むかもしれない。」
Zebra had a striped guitar.
シマウマは縞模様のギターを持っていた。
She handed it to Bear.
彼女はそれをくまに渡した。
“You hold it over here,” she said.
「そしてあそこでこれを持ちます」彼女は言った。
“and strum it over there.”
「そしてあそこでこれをかき鳴らすのよ」
Bear started strumming softly,
くまはゆっくりかき鳴らし始めた。
then he strummed a little more.
それからかれは少しづつもっとかき鳴らした。
Then he started strumming wildly with his massive strumming paw.
そして、彼は大きい手で激しく鳴らし始めました。
But his claws were long and curly and they tangled in the strings.
しかし、彼の爪は長くて巻き毛があり、ひもに絡み付いていました。
“Never mind.” said Zebra.
“気にしないで。” シマウマは言った。
“Guitars are tricky things.”
「ギターは扱いにくいものです。」
Moose held up his trumpet.
ムースはトランペットを掲げた。
“Would you like to have a go?”
「やってみたい？」
“All you have to do,” he said.
「あなたはすべてするべきだ」と彼は言った。
“Is take a breath and blow!”
「息を吸って一撃！」
“Bear took a giant breath…
「熊はおおきな一息をついた…
and blew with all his might.
そして彼の全力でふいた。
The trumpet made a screeching noise and all the birds took flight!
トランペットはきしむ音を立て、すべての鳥が飛びました！
The elephant stampeded and all the monkeys left.
象が 驚いてどっと逃げ出し、すべてのサルが去りました。
Everyone took cover…
誰もが覆いました…
until bear was out of breath.
熊が息切れするまで。
“Your lungs are all fully strong,” said sheep.
「あなたの肺はすべて完全に強い」と羊は言った。
“You must be very proud.
「あなたはとても誇らしく思うに違いない。
But there is another instrument that isn’t quite as loud.
しかし、それほど大きくない別の楽器があります。
Have you ever tried a microphone?
マイクを試したことはありますか？
It’s just a simple thing.

You only have to hold it up, clear your throat and sing!”

She handed bear the microphone and counted up to four.

The band began to play a tune and Bear began to …

“Roar!” went the noisy bear,

Roar! Roar! Roar!
「がぉー！」「がぉー！」「がぉー！」
“More!” cheered the audience,
“もっと！” 観客を応援した、
“More! More! More!”
“もっともっともっと！”
The elephants were dancing and the monkey sang along.
象が踊り、猿が一緒に歌いました。
He roared in perfect harmony through every single song.
彼はすべての歌を通して完璧に調和しました。
Then when the show is over and the moon had settled in, when everyone was fast asleep…
ショーが終わって月が落ち着いて、誰もが眠っていたとき…
..he tried the violin!
..彼はバイオリンを試してみました！
