英語絵本フロッギーシリーズから「Froggy Rides A Bike」の読み聞かせです。
新しい自転車を手に入れる夢を見たフロッギー、目が覚めると今日はその自転車をお父さんと買いに行く日でした。
相変わらずもぞもぞと服を着替えて自転車屋に向かいます。夢の自転車を見つけたフロッギーは、ホーンとベルまでおねだりして念願の自転車を手に入れます。
Froggy looked out the window.
フロッギーは窓の外を見た。
His shiny new bike gleamed in the Sun.
彼の光沢のある新しい自転車は太陽の下で輝いていました。
“Yippee!” he said…
「やったー！」 彼は言った…
and he flopped outside
彼は外に飛び出した
and hopped on his bike -frop flop…bing! –
そして彼の自転車にぴょんぴょん！飛び乗った…
ビング！
and took off.
そして乗った。
He pedaled so fast that soon he was about a million miles an hour!
彼のこぎはとても速かったので、時速100万マイルでした！
He pedaled so fast that soon he was flying high in the sky – Wheeee!
彼はとても速く彼は空を高く飛んでいました – ヒュー！
And there was his dad far, far below, calling,
froggy!
そして彼のお父さんは遠くにいた フロッギー！
Froggy stopped flying.
カエルは飛ぶのをやめた。
He was falling…
彼は倒れていた…
falling…
落下…
He woke up and rubbed his eyes.
彼は目を覚まして目をこすった。
“Rise and shine, Froggy!” said his dad.
「起き上がって輝く、フロッギー！」 彼のお父さんは言った。
“Today’s the day we get your bike!”
「今日は自転車を手に入れる日だ！」
“Yippee!” cried froggy.
「やった！」フロッギーが叫んだ。
He bounced out of bed and flopped into the kitchen -flop flop flop!
彼はベッドから飛び跳ねてキッチンへぴょんぴょん！しました。
“Let’s go,” said froggy.
「さぁいこう！」とフロッギーは言った。
“Okay,” said his dad.
「はい」と彼の父は言った。
“But first you have to get dressed!”
「しかし、最初は服を着る必要があります！」
“Oops!” said froggy.
「おっと！」 フロッギーは言った。
And he flopped back to his bedroom to get dressed – zip! zoop! zup! zut! zut! zut!
そして、彼は服を着るために自分の寝室に戻りました – ジップジップ！モゾモゾ！
At the bike shop,
自転車屋で、
Froggy said, “I want a trick bike!”
フロッギーは言った、 「私はトリックバイクが欲しい！」
“But, froggy,” said his dad,
「でもフロッギー」と彼の父は言った。
“first you have to learn how to ride a bike!”
「最初は自転車の乗り方を学ばなければなりません！」
“Okay,” said froggy.
「いいよ」とフロッギーは言った。
“But I get to pick it out! That one!”
「しかし、私はそれを選ぶようになる！
“Too big,” said Dad.
「大きすぎる」とパパは言った。
“That one!”
「あれ！」
“Too expensive,” said Dad.
「高すぎる」とパパは言った。
“That one!” said froggy “it’s the bike of my dreams!”
「あれ！」 フロッギーは言った、「それは私の夢の自転車です！」
“Okey-doke!” said Dad.
「オーケー、！」 お父さんは言った。
“Yippee!” cried froggy.
「やったー！」フロッギーは叫んだ。
“My very first bike!
「私の一番最初の自転車！
But now I need a horn and a bell!”
しかし今、私はホーンとベルが必要です！」
“Both?” said Dad. “Okey-doke!”
「両方？」 お父さんは言った。「オーケー、！」
And froggy got a horn and a bell –
そしてフロッギーはホーンとベルを得ました –
honk honk! ting-ting!
ホンクホンク！ティンティン！
Back at home, everybody gathered around to watch.
家に帰ると、みんなは見に集まった。
All the Froggy’s friends were there – even Frogillina.
フロッギーの友達 – フロッギリーナさえもいた。
“Okay, Froggy,” said his dad.
「いいよ、フロッギー」と彼のお父さんは言った。
“Now hop on and pedal like mad.
「今すぐ飛び乗って、必死にペダルを踏む。
I won’t let go!”
私は放しません！」
“Okay,” said froggy.
「よし！」とフロッギー
“But first you have to put my horn on and my bell.
「しかし、最初にあなたは私のホーンと私のベルをつけなければならない。
Then I’ll ride my bike!”
それから私は自転車に乗るよ！」
Froggy’s dad put his horn on – honk honk!
フロッギーのお父さんは彼のホーンをつけました – ホーンを鳴らします！
“Now hop on and pedal like mad,” he said.
「今すぐ飛び乗って、必死にペダルを踏む」と彼は言った。
“I won’t let go.”
「私は放しません！」
“Okay,” said froggy.
「よし！」とフロッギー
“But you still have to put my bell on.

Then I’ll ride my bike!”

Froggy’s dad put his bell on – ting-a-ling!

“Now hop on and pedal like mad,” he said.

“I won’t let go.”

So Froggy hopped on his bike – flop-flop bing!
そしてフロッギーは彼の自転車に飛び乗った ぴょんぴょん！
and pedaled like mad – honk honk! ting-a-ling ! Zoom Zoom Zoom!
そして狂ったように漕いだ ホーンホーン！リンリン！
But then Froggy’s dad…
しかし、そのときフロッギーのお父さん…
let go! froggy!
さぁ行こう！フロッギー！
he yelled. “What?”
彼は叫んだ。「なに？」
“Hold on tight!”
「しっかりつかまって！」
“Yikes!” cried froggy.
「ありゃ！」フロッギーは叫んだ・
His bike zigged and zagged and wobbled.
彼の自転車はジグザグに動いていた。
He was falling… falling..
彼は落ちていた…落ちていた..
Thump! He fell on his bottom.
彼は下に落ちた。
Frogillina giggled.
フロギリーナは笑いました。
Froggies dad helped up and said,
お父さんが助けて言った、
“Good job, froggy!
「よくやった、フロッギー！
Now hop on again and again pedal like mad!
今すぐ何度も何度も狂ったように飛び乗る！
“I won’t let go!”
「私は放しません！」
let go again!
もう一度行こう！
Froggy’s friends shouted, “Go, froggy go!”
フロッギーの友人たちは、「行きなさい、フロッギー行きなさい」と叫んだ。
“Yikes!” cried froggy.
「わぁ！」フロッギーがさけんだ。
His bike zigged and zagged and wobbled.
彼の自転車はジグザグに動いていた。
He was falling…falling…
彼は落ちていた…落ちて…
But he didn’t give up.
しかし彼はあきらめなかった。
He yelled, whee!
彼は叫んだ、ウィー！
and rode his bike…
そして彼の自転車に乗った…
up and down and up and down until dinner.
夕方まで上下にそして上下に。
All of Froggy’s friends had gone home – except for frogillna.
フロッギリーナを除いて、フロッギーの友達全員は家に帰っていた。
“Watch me!” said froggy. “No hands!”
「私を見て！」 フロッギーは言った。 「手なし！」
And froggy rode his bike with no hands…
そして、カエルは彼の自転車に手を使わずに乗った…
right smack into a tree – thump! –
木に激しく打ちあたる バン！
and fell on his rump.
そして尻もちをつきました。
At dinner, froggy couldn’t sit down.
夕食時には、フロッギーは座ることができませんでした。
“What’s the matter?” asked his mom.
「問題は何ですか？」 彼のお母さんは聞いた。
“My butt’s too sore!”
「お尻が痛い！」
“froggy go booboo!” giggled Polly.
「フロッギーブーブー！」ポリーが笑った。
But in the morning, Froggy hopped on his bike – flop flop..bing !
しかし、午前中に、フロッギーは彼の自転車に飛び乗った – フロップフロップ.ピョン！
Hong hong! ting-a-ling! zoom-zoom-zoom –
and he popped wheelies…
ホーンホーン！チリン！ ズンズン そしてかれは車輪をはずませました。。
all day long – boing! boing! boing!
一日中 グルングルン！
