② “I ask because …” ——理由を前置きする自然な接続表現
“because” は接続詞として習うことが多いですが、”I ask because …” の形で文頭に置くことで、「なぜそうするかというと〜」と柔らかく理由を説明するフレーズになります。
I ask because … → 〜だから聞くんだ
I ask because he knows everything. → 彼なら何でも知っているから、聞くんだ。
I ask because I trust you the most. → あなたが一番信頼できるから、聞くんだよ。
③ “He looks like he doesn’t belong.” ——”look like + 文” で状態を描写する
“look like + 名詞” はよく知られていますが、”look like + 文（主語＋動詞）” の形で「〜のように見える」と状態を具体的に描写できます。
look like + 文 → まるで〜のように見える
He looks like he doesn’t belong. → 彼はどこにも馴染んでいないように見える。
She looks like she’s about to cry. → 彼女は今にも泣き出しそうに見える。
