英語絵本「The hungry giant 」の読み聞かせです。
欧米で古くから親しまれている巨人を題材にした絵本です。
お腹をすかせた巨人は人々に、パンをとってこい！バターを取ってこい！・・と、大声で命令しています。
Get me～ 直訳すると「私のために得てください」となりますが、「取って！」って感じですかね。
例）
Get me the key 「鍵を取って！」
Get me some proof. 「証拠を見せて！」
“I want some bread!” roared the giant.
「パンがほしい！」と、巨人は大声でほえた、
“Get me some bread, or I’ll hit you with my bommy
knocker.”
「私のためにいくらかのパンをとってきなさい、さもなければ、ハンマーでたたくぞ。」
So the people ran and ran and got the Giant some bread.
そこで人々は走りに走って、巨人のパンを手に入れました。
“I want some butter!” roared the Giant.
「バターがほしい！」 巨人は吠えた。
“Get me some butter, or I’ll hit you with my bommy knocker.
「私のためにいくらかのバターをとってきなさい、さもなければ、ハンマーでたたくぞ。」
So the people ran and ran and got the Giant some butter .
そこで人々は走りに走って、巨人のバターを手に入れました。
“I want some honey roared the Giant.
「ハチミツがほしい！」 巨人は吠えた。
“Get me some honey, or I’ll hit you with my bommy knocker.”
「私のためにいくらかのハチミツをとってきなさい、さもなければ、ハンマーでたたくぞ。」
So the people ran and ran.
そこで人々は走りに走った。
They looked everywhere for honey.
彼らはあちこちハチミツを探しました。
“I want some honey!” roared the Giant.
「ハチミツがほしい！」 巨人は吠えた。
“Get me some honey!”
「私のためにいくらかのハチミツをとってきなさい!」
“Get me some honey, or I’ll hit you with my bommy knocker!”
「私のためにいくらかのハチミツをとってきなさい、さもなければ、ハンマーでたたくぞ。」
The people found a beehive.
人々はハチの巣を発見した。
“Ah! Here is some honey,” they said, and they
took it to the Giant.
「ああ、ハチミツがあります」と彼らは言い、そしてそれを巨人に渡した。
“Here is some honey,” they said.
「ここに多少ハチミツがある」と彼らは言った。
The giant looked at the beehive.
巨人は蜂の巣を見た。
“That’s not honey!” he said, and he hit it with his bommy knocker.

The bees zoomed out.
ハチはブーンと飛び出した。
They zoomed after the Giant.

“Ow!” he roared, and he ran and ran,
