英語絵本の読み聞かせ「Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs」ゴルディロックスと三匹の恐竜のお話です。
恐竜たちの住む家ではチョコレートプディングの甘い匂い。その匂いに誘われてちっちゃな女の子が迷い込もうとしています。でも、賢い女の子はそこが恐竜のおうちだと気づくことになります。
少し長めの英語の文章ですが、簡単な単語で綴られていて読み進めやすい絵本でした。
Once upon a time there were three Dinosaurs a Papa Dinosaur a Mama Dinosaur, and some other Dinosaur who happened to be visiting from Norway.
むかしむかし、3びきの恐竜、パパ恐竜、ママ恐竜、そしてたまたまノルウェーから訪れた恐竜がいました。

One day for no particular reason, the three dinosaurs made up their beds, position their chairs just so, and cooked three bowls of delicious chocolate pudding and varying temperatures.
特別な理由はないけれど、ある日、3人の恐竜はベッドを作り、椅子をそのままの位置に置き、おいしいチョコレートプディングを調理してとさまざまな温度の3つのボウルを用意しました。
“Oh boy!” said Papa Dinosaur in his loud, booming voice.
“あらまあ！” とパパ恐竜は叫びながら大声で言った。
“Iit is finally time to leave and go to the …uhhh… place else!”
「いよいよ、出発して…ええと…他の場所に行く時間です！」
“Yes!” continued Mama Dinosaur.”
“はい！” ママ恐竜が続きました。」
I sure hope no innocent little succulent child happens by our unlocks home white we are ..uhh.. someplace else!”
私達が白い家を留守にしている間、罪のない小さな多肉の子供が近くにいないことを祈るよ！
Then the other Dinosaur made a loud noise it sounded like a big evil laugh but with probably just a polite Norwegian expression.
すると、もう一匹の恐竜が大きな音を立てて、大きな邪悪な笑い声のように聞こえましたが、おそらく丁重なノルウェー語の表現を使っていたのでしょう。
The three Dinosaurs went Someplace Else and were definitely not hiding in the woods waiting for an unsuspecting kid to come by
3つの恐竜はどこかに行って、森の中に隠れていたのは間違いなく来る無防備な子供を待っていた
sure enough five minutes later a poorly supervised little girl named Goldilocks came traipsing along.
案の定、5分後にはゴルディロックスという名の少女が、人の目を気にせず歩いてきました。
Then the forest boomed with what could have been a Dinosaur yelling “Gotcha!” but I’m pretty sure was just the wind.
すると森の中で恐竜が「やった！」と叫んでいるような音がしたが、それはただの風だったのだろう。
The loud noise was immediately followed by another loud noise that sounded kind of like “Be patient. Papa Dinosaur! The trap is not yet sprung!”
その大きな音はすぐに、「我慢して」というような感じの別の大きな音に続いていました。「パパ恐竜! 罠はまだ始まっていません！」
But that could have been a rock falling. Or a squirrel.
でも、それは岩が落ちてきたのかもしれない。リスかもしれない。

Either way Goldilocks was not the type of little girl who listened to anyone or anything.
どちらにしても、ゴルディロックスは誰かの言うことを聞くタイプの少女ではありませんでした。
for example Goldilocks never listen to warnings about the dangers of barging into strange enormous houses.
例えば、ゴルディロックスは、見知らぬ巨大な家に押しかける危険性についての警告を聞くことはありませんでした。
So as soon as Goldilocks came across a strange, enormous house boom, she barged right in.
ゴルディロックスが奇妙な巨大な家に 出くわすとすぐに 彼女は飛び込んだ
Inside Goldilocks immediately smelled the three bowls of delicious chocolate pudding.
中でゴルディロックスはすぐに3つのボウルに入った美味しいチョコレートプリンの匂いを嗅ぎました。
“Mmm!” said Goldilocks. “That chocolate pudding smells delicious. If only I could get all the way up to the top of that counter!”
「うーん！」とゴルディロックスは言った。「そのチョコレートプリンは美味しそうな匂いがするわ。”カウンターの上まで登れたらいいのに！」
Then Goldilocks noticed a very tall ladder that just happened to be there and certainly wasn’t left on purpose.
ゴルディロックスは、たまたまそこにあった非常に高いはしごに気づきました。
Goldilocks climbed up the ladder and found herself face-to-face with three gigantic bowls of chocolate pudding.
ゴルディロックスははしごを登り、3つの巨大なチョコレートプリンのボウルと対面しました。
The first bowl of chocolate pudding was too hot, but Goldilocks ate it all anyway because, hey, it’s chocolate pudding, right?
最初のボウルのチョコプリンは熱すぎたけど、 ゴルディロックスは全部食べてしまった。 だってチョコプリンでしょ？
The second bowl of chocolate pudding was too cold, but who cares about temperature when you’ve got a big bowl of chocolate pudding?
2つ目のボウルのチョコプリンは冷たすぎたけど、大きなボウルのチョコプリンなら誰が温度を気にするの？

The third bowl of chocolate pudding was just right, but Goldilocks was on such a roll by now, she hardly noticed.
3つ目のボウルのチョコレートプリンはちょうど良かったが、ゴルディロックスは今頃になって調子に乗っていて、ほとんど気づかなかった。
Soon Goldilocks was stuffed like one of those delicious chocolate filled little girl bonbons (which by the way are totally not the favorite thing in the whole world for hungry Dinosaurs)
やがてゴールディロックスは美味しいチョコレートで満たされたぬいぐるみのようなボンボン少女（ところで、お腹をすかせた恐竜のための世界中で完全に好きなものではありません）。
The first chair too tall.
最初の椅子は背が高すぎる。
The second chair also too tall.
2番目の椅子も高すぎる
but the third chair –
しかし、3番目の椅子は…
– was too tall
– 背が高い
Goldilocks wasn’t gonna climb that high just to sit in some chair, so she hiked over to the bedroom.
ゴルディロックスは椅子に座るためだけに 高いところには登らなかった だから寝室まで歩いてきたんだ。
When she got there, Goldilocks noticed that the beds were also gigantically big.
彼女がそこに着いたとき、ゴルディロックスは、ベッドも巨大な大きさであることに気づきました。
“what is going on around here!?” groaned the exhausted girl.
“ここはどうなってるの？”と疲れた女の子がうめきました。
“The Bears that live here must be nuts!”
“ここに住んでいるクマさんはおかしいわね”
just then the room filled was a loud, booming noise that was either a passing truck or a Dinosaur gloating.
その時、部屋が埋め尽くされたのは、トラックを通過するか、恐竜がほくそ笑んでいるような、大きなブーイング音でした。
“a few more minutes and she’ll be asleep delicious chocolate filed little girl bonbons are yummer when theyrer rested!”
「あと数分、彼女は眠りにつくだろう。チョコレートで満たされた美味しい小さな女の子のボンボンは、休んでいると大喜びです！」
Even a little girl who never listens to anyone or anything have to hear that.
人の話も何も聞かないような子でも聞かないといけない。

Golddocks took a minute to stop and think, which was longer than she was used to stopping and thinking.
ゴールドドックは、停止して考えるのに1分かかりました。これは、彼女が停止して考えるのに慣れていた時間よりも長くなりました。
“hey” she told herself

“this isn’t some bear’s house. This is some Dinosaurs house!”

Say what you like about Golddocks, but she was no fool.

As quickly as she could, she ran to the back door and got out of there!

Just then a loud plane flew by which sounded pretty much like a trio of Dinosaurs yelling. “Now!” or “Charge!” or the Norwegian expression for “Chewy.Bonbon-Time!”
ちょうどその時、大声で飛行機が飛び、恐竜のトリオが大声で叫ぶのによく似た音がしました。 「いま！」 または「せーの」 または「Chewy.Bonbon-Time！」のノルウェー語表現
Suddenly and completely coincidentally – the three Dinosaurs rushed through the front door.
突然そして完全に偶然に-3人の恐竜が正面玄関から駆けつけました。
but they were too late.
しかし、彼らは遅すぎました。
Goldilocks was gone, and all that was left in the house we’re three disappointed Dinosaurs.
ゴルディロックスは去り、家に残されたものはすべてがっかりした3人の恐竜です。

If you ever find yourself in the wrong story, leave.
