子供のクリスマス気分が盛り上がりそうな英語絵本『The Bears’ Merry Christmas』の読み聞かせ動画です。
クマさん一家のクリスマスを描いたお話ですが、きっと欧米の子供たちはこんなふうにクリスマスを過ごしているんでしょうね。
お父さんと一緒にツリーの売り場に行って、木を選んで家に持ち帰り、飾り付けを楽しんで、サンタのプレゼントを楽しみにベットへ入る・・
そんな一日を、優しいタッチのイラストとわかりやすい英語で読み聞かせてくれます。
The Bears’ Merry Christmas
“Who wants to help me pick out a Christmas tree?” asked Mr.Bear.
“We do,” answered Michael and Melissa Bear.
「誰がクリスマスツリーを選ぶ私の手助けをしたいですか？」 ミスターベアは尋ねた。
「わたしたちがやります」マイケルとメリッサ・ベアは答えました。
Then Mr.Bear and Melissa and Michael climbed into the car and drove into town.
それから、ミスターベアとメリッサとマイケルは、車に乗り込んで町へ運転しました。
At the Christmas tree lot, Mr.Bear picked out the biggest tree.
クリスマスツリー売り場では、ミスターベアが一番大きな木を選びました。
“How will we get home?” ask Michael.
「どうやって家に持ち帰るの？」マイケルは尋ねる。
“You’ll see,” said Mr.Bear.
「今にわかります。」ミスターベアは言った。
“Need some help?” asked the Christmas tree salesman.
「お手伝いが必要ですか？」とクリスマスツリーの販売員が尋ねた。
“No I think we’ve just about got it.
Thanks, anyway,” said Mr.Bear
「いいえ、私たちはちょうどそれを得たと思います。
とにかく、ありがとう」と、クマさんは言いました。
Melissa and Michael helped their daddy tie the tree to the car.
メリッサとマイケルは、彼らのお父さんが木を車につなぐのを助けました。
At home Mr.Bear sawed off the bottom of the tree so It would fit into the tree stand.
自宅でミスターベアは木の底を切り取って木立に収まるようにしました。
Mrs.Bear watered the tree to keep it moist.

“Isn’t this a fine tree?” said mrs.Bear.
「これは、すばらしい木ですね？」と、ミセスベアは言いました。
“Now where are the decorations from last year?” Mrs.Bear said as she poked through boxes in the attic.
「現在、昨年からの装飾は、どこにありますか？」ミセスベアは屋根裏中の箱をあちこち突っつきながらそう言った。
“I don’t know,” said Jessica Bear, “but here’s the star I made for the top of the tree when I was little. It’s so pretty .”
「私は知らない」とジェシカ。「でも、ここに私が小さい時に作ったツリートップの星があります。」
Grandma Bear help Michael and Melissa make stars and paper chains.
おばあちゃんベアは、マイケルとメリッサが星と紙の鎖を作るのを援助します。
Grandpa Bear and Jessica put the lights on the tree.
おじいちゃんベアとジェシカはツリーにライトをのせました。
Then michael and Melissa put on popcorn strings and the paper chains.
その後、マイケルとメリッサは、ポップコーンの紐と紙の鎖を付けました。
The tree was almost finished. There were colored balls, little wooden horses, and lots of candy canes, and there was even a Santa in a sleigh .
ツリーはほとんど終わった。色のついたボール、木製の小さな馬、たくさんのキャンディ杖があり、サンタもそりにいました。
For the final touch, Jessica put her star on the very top of the tree.
Now it was finished.
最後の仕上げに、ジェシカは彼女の星を木の一番上に置いた。
さて、それは終わった。
While Michael and Grandma Bear started putting presents under the tree,
Mr.Bear served hot chocolate and cookies.
マイケルとおばあちゃんベアが木の下にプレゼントを置き始めている間、
ミスターベアはホットチョコレートとクッキーを用意しました。
“Listen to the Carolers outside,” said Grandma Bear.
「外の祝歌を歌う人々を聞いて」おばあちゃんベアが言った。
“What a nice time we’ve had today.” said Mrs.Bear.
「私たち今日はなんて素晴らしい時間を過ごしたでしょう。」ミセスベアは言った。
It was bedtime. Melissa got a ride on her daddy’s back while Michael took one last look up the chimney.
それは就寝時だった。マイケルが最後に煙突を見上げている間、メリッサは彼女のパパの背に乗った。
“Will Santa really come?” he wondered.
「サンタさんは本当に来るでしょうか？」彼は思った。
Michael and Melissa dreamed about Santa coming.
マイケルとメリッサはサンタが来る夢を見た。
And he did come!
“This is the prettiest tree I’ve seen yet,” said Santa.
そして、彼はやってきた！
「これは私が今まで見た中で一番美しいツリーです。」とサンタは言いました。
In the morning Melissa in Michael ran downstairs and found the tricycle Santa had left for them.
朝、マイケルとメリッサは階下に走り、サンタが彼らのために残した三輪車を見つけました。
They were pleased indeed.
彼らは本当に満足していた。
“This is the best Christmas ever.” they said.
「これはこれまで最高のクリスマスです。」
彼らは言った。
